Deciding between a new and a second hand stairlift is one of the first choices people across Northern Ireland face, and there is no single right answer. It comes down to your staircase, how long you expect to need the lift, and what you would like to spend. Our job is to lay out the facts honestly so you can make the call that is right for you.
Second hand lifts are our own reconditioned straight stairlifts, bought back, fully serviced, tested and cleaned, starting from £950 installed. New lifts give you the widest choice of models, fabrics and features, including curved designs such as the Flow X and the Bespoke Infinity. There is also a middle route: an ex-rental lift.
Stairlift Solutions is a local family business based in Newtownards, Co. Down, and whichever way you go we provide the full service:
We fit straight and curved lifts, for inside the house or for outdoor steps, all at reasonable prices and all good quality equipment.
If you are still weighing things up, our FREE home survey is the easiest way to decide. An experienced member of the team visits, assesses the stairs and explains what they have found, setting out the new and second hand options side by side.
New or second hand, your lift is protected by a full warranty and our 24/7 customer care line. Call 02891 882249 to book a survey anywhere in Northern Ireland.
A selection of towns we cover in Northern Ireland: Belfast, Derry, Bangor, Newtownards, Newtownabbey, Ballymoney, Limavady, Strabane, Magherafelt, Banbridge, Downpatrick, Ballycastle, Portrush, Kilkeel.
Brooks Slimline Stairlifts
Often supplied as one of our reconditioned straight lifts, the Brooks Slimline is reliable and long-lasting. It eases into motion and stops softly, is operated by remote controls, and its DC power packs are recharged automatically at the end of every journey.
Brooks 180 Curved Stairlifts
Brooks created the 180 for curved staircases. Whether your stairs need a lift on the inner or the outer curve, it fits, and it keeps the reliability and features you would find on the Brooks straight models.
HomeGlide Stairlifts
A good choice if you want a new lift at a very competitive price. The HomeGlide suits straight stairs, has the basic features, is safe and robust, installs swiftly and glides quietly and smoothly. We supply and install it in Northern Ireland.
HomeGlide Extra Stairlifts
For those who want the most from a new straight lift, the HomeGlide Extra offers premium options and luxury. Select your fabric and colours; the compact, elegant seat travels on an aluminium rail that we fit cleanly and discreetly after giving specialist advice.
Flow X Curved Stairlifts
Made by ThyssenKrupp, the Flow X followed the award-winning Flow 2A and is one of the world's leading stairlifts. Its German engineering, latest technology and single rail mean it can be fitted to nearly any staircase in homes and businesses.
Bespoke Synergy
A new straight lift that is simple to use and thoughtfully detailed. The Bespoke Synergy is compact, hides several of its features, and runs on one of the slimmest rails in the world for an unobtrusive finish.
Bespoke Infinity
The Bespoke Infinity is a British-made curved lift that combines quality and comfort, so you can live independently with the minimum of help. A 2-year parts warranty comes as standard, along with our expert advice and installation.
Acorn Stairlifts
If you are leaning towards second hand, Acorn is worth a look. It is a well-known brand and one of the most popular reconditioned lifts, with a simple design that is easy to use, easy to maintain and top quality.
Reconditioned Stairlifts
Our second hand option: a full range of reconditioned straight stairlifts, from £950 installed. Each started out as one of ours; we buy it back and give it a full service, checks, tests and a clean before refitting.
Age, condition and any warranty set the price, and most of them come up like new.
Rental Stairlifts
Not ready to buy either new or second hand? Renting is a third way. A 6 or 12 month plan covers short-term needs without a large outlay, and when the period ends the lift goes back to us.
Outdoor Stairlifts
Outside steps call for our outdoor lift, a Brooks for external straight flights that operates like its indoor counterpart. Thanks to outdoor components and a durable plastic cover, it is protected from rain, snow, heat and light, for homes and businesses alike.
Extended Warranties
Whether your lift is new or second hand, an extended warranty covers breakdowns and unforeseen repairs. The lifts are very reliable, but it gives peace of mind, backed by after-sales care and a team available 24/7.
Mobility Scooters
Our mobility scooter range is wide, taking in Sterling, Invacare and Supascoota as well as other brands. Comparing them on paper can be confusing, so give us a call and our experts will help you weigh up the differences.
Riser Recliners
Riser recliners from Royams, a family-run British maker with almost 40 years of history and a personalised service. Choose fabrics and frames in Petite, Standard or Kingsize, with the Patented Lift and battery backup; the motor and mechanisms come with a 5-year guarantee. High seat chairs are also available, with delivery throughout Northern Ireland.
Rollators
Coopers lightweight rollators for indoors and outdoors, made with quality, safety, comfort and design in mind. Compare the different models, sizes and colours to find the right fit, and we will deliver it straight to your home.
Manual Wheelchairs
BREEZY standard manual wheelchairs combine quality and dependability with ease of operation. Steel frames and aluminium frames are both available and both fold, so you can compare the two, and every chair is tested for a stable ride.
Powered Wheelchairs
Powered wheelchairs that work indoors or outdoors, with performance and manoeuvrability to match. Expandable controls, a choice of seating systems and different drive bases let you build in the independence you need.
Ramps
Portable ramps for everyday access, suitable for most budgets. Weigh up anodised aluminium against carbon fibre, plastic or rubber; whichever you pick, it is designed to give maximum safety and load while keeping the weight to a minimum.
Bathroom Aids
Coopers bathroom aids support safe, independent bathing and showering. Look out for the safety features built into them, such as locking mechanisms and textured surfaces that are easy to grip when your hands are wet.
Toilet Aids
Coopers toileting and continence aids include practical features that help you hold on to your independence. Our team can suggest which of them would be most useful, alongside any stairlift you are choosing.
